Vice Ganda pulled the viewers’ heartstrings as she emotionally recalled her own engagement story with Ion Perez on “Everybody, Sing!” last Saturday (July 1).

After talking to a pair from the songbayanan comprised of engaged couples, the Unkabogable Superstar remembered how frightened she was when Ion asked for her hand in marriage.

‘Yung babae tsaka lalaki pero ‘yung sa ‘min hindi normal ‘yung tingin sa amin,” she tearfully added, reflecting on the difference between the warmth given to engaged straight couples versus engaged couples from the LGBTQIA+ community.

Vice then shared that she asked her friends to delete footage of the engagement because of the backlash they would have gotten, especially Ion. However, she said that she has gotten over her fears and is now more open about her relationship.

“‘Yung fear ko nu’n, wala na at ‘yung care ko nu’n sa ibang tao, wala na. Kasi all my care now, lahat ng care ko, na kay Ion na lang at sa nararamdaman namin,” she shared.

Meanwhile, the songbayanan failed to grab the P2 million jackpot prize but still managed to take home P290,000 as their winnings.
