The City Health Office (CHO) here kicked off on Wednesday the “Resbakuna Kids” vaccination program against coronavirus disease (Covid-19) of children five to 11 years old at the SM City here.

To lessen the fear the children may feel, the mall management turned the vaccination area into a child-friendly and party-like place decorated with colorful tarpaulins, balloons, and lanterns.

Children were entertained by mascots and movie characters such as Transformers before they underwent medical checkups and consultations.

“Today is a special milestone, especially for the kids of San Jose del Monte. They have added another layer of protection against the virus, and because of that, malling will be happier and a lot safer for them,” SM regional manager Lea Sta. Ana said.

City health officer Dr. Roselle Tolentino encouraged parents to register their children in their respective barangay health stations as walk-ins are not yet allowed at the vaccination site.

Noli Concepcion, the executive assistant to the city government said, “As a parent, the most important thing for us is the keep our children safe, so we should get them vaccinated.”

Vaccination for younger children at SM City San Jose del Monte is located on the second floor while the regular vaccination for the adult population and youth aged 12 to 17 will be relocated to Basement 1 starting March 1, the mall management said. (PNA)
