Filipino high school students from the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) represented the country and took home four awards at the 55th International Chemistry Olympiad held in Switzerland.

Bearing the Philippine flag, the four representatives were recognized for earning three medals and one honorable mention in the competition, which was held from July 16 to July 25.

The team is composed of students Gelraycs Jules D. Fornan from PSHS SOCCSKSARGEN Campus, Mohammad Nur G. Casib from PSHS Central Mindanao Campus, and Lemuel A. Acosta from PSHS Central Luzon Campus, who won bronze medals each, and Kiersten Gene M. Calubaquib from PSHS Main Campus, who was given an Honorable Mention.

The Pisay students competed with over 300 genius science students hailing from 86 different nations in the international rounds.

The International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) is a global science competition that aims to put young chemists in the limelight for their exceptional talent as they go through a five-hour laboratory practical and a five-hour written theoretical examination.
