The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) has appointed actress and comedian Melai Cantiveros – Francisco as Honorary Ambassador for Korea Family Tourism in the Philippines. The appointment ceremony took place on May 21, 2024, in Seoul, Korea.

Melai Cantiveros Francisco is the first Filipino celebrity chosen by KTO as an Honorary Ambassador to promote Korean Family Tourism in the Philippines and this special honor is valid from May 21, 2024, to May 20, 2025.

As the honorary ambassador for family tourism, Melai will represent KTO in promoting family-friendly tourism in Korea to Filipinos. She will share her experiences of visiting Korea with her family on social media. Melai will also promote Korea’s family tourist attractions at various events organized by KTO and other Korean government agencies. Additionally, she will participate in KTO’s major campaigns and events, such as familiarization tours and travel fairs, within a year of her appointment date.

According to the organization’s Facebook post, Melai and her family visited Korea this week for a familiarization tour in Seoul and Gyeonggi provinces. They experienced Korea’s attractive family-friendly tourist destinations, including theme parks, K-Pop dance classes, and wellness experiences.

Melai shared the news on Instagram, thanking her fans and followers for their support, “Kamsahamnidaaa mga Kamsamiii kung di dahil sa inyu di kami mapipili na maging ambassador and ambasadress ng KTO as Korean Tourism Ambassador Family.”
“This opportunity ay para sa inyo mga Kamsamii, ipapakita namin sa inyo ang mga happiness namin dito sa Korea,” Melai added.

Melai, who gained fame after winning “PBB: Double Up” in 2009, recently starred in the movie “Ma’am Chief: Shakedown in Seoul,” filmed in South Korea. She continues to host the morning show “Magandang Buhay” and is preparing for the upcoming season of “Pinoy Big Brother.”

Melai and her family are affectionately known as the “Kamsamii Family” among their fans. Mr. Hyung Joon Kim, Director of KTO Manila, stated that Melai was chosen as the Honorary Ambassador for Family Tourism due to her various projects related to Korea. KTO hopes that Melai’s promotional content will raise awareness and interest in Korea’s family-friendly tourist attractions among Filipino families.
