Have you ever considered eating a swan? How about a rubber shoe? What about a fishing tackle box? Sounds unapologetically distasteful to us, doesn’t it? However, you can eat those three by making hyper-realistic cakes!

Although those objects may sound sickening to eat, Netflix has released the first season of Is It Cake? on March 18, hosted by Mikee Day. It is a baking competition in which skilled artists create delectable replicas of objects.

And do you know what to look forward to on the foregoing Netflix show? A Filipina-Canadian baker has entered this entertaining competition and she is April Julian, a cake designer who specializes in whimsical and mind-bending cake art.

Is It Cake? is a deception perpetrated in the name of cake-making by the world’s most talented bakers who compete to create hyper-realistic cakes that look exactly like everyday objects in our homes.

It’s all fun and games until you begin to wonder, “Is it real?” or “Is it a cake?”. Now, this show is becoming popular on Netflix in the United States.

“All I can say is thank you and salamat to everyone who watched this weekend. I’m so, so grateful for all the kind messages from all over the world,” Julian wrote on her Instagram.

If Pinoys here make cakes with beer, dishwashing liquid, and other objects arranged on top or on the sides of their cakes, then Is It Cake? will trick your guts by serving you the most delectable cakes in town.

Watch out for their upcoming episodes on Netflix and show your support for April Julian.
