With the goal of promoting a healthier lifestyle for Filipinos, Maxicare and Southstar Drug collaborated to launch a fun run in Manila.

Conducting their first running activity in Manila, the two companies invited individuals to run at the University of the Philippines, Diliman, on August 13.

In partnership with the Quezon City government, Maxicare and Southstar Drug highlighted the essence of the said fun run to encourage Filipinos to have a healthier lifestyle.

As Mayor Joy Belmonte mentioned, the recent fun run was one of their local government’s milestones to declare the city a place for promoting healthy living.

This was then supported by Christian Argos, the Chief Executive Officer of Maxicare, who noted that most Filipinos had limited access and time to engage in physical activities during the pandemic.

“I think the future of healthcare is really building partnerships with patients. We see our role in healthcare navigation. Since we’re navigators we have to help health progress by giving our members access to healthcare and resources to allow them to stay healthy not just be better,” Argos said.

In the fun run event, the participants were able to choose how far they would go, from 3 kilometers to 10 kilometers. Before the event, an instructor was present to give a warm-up exercise for the runners before their kilometer run.

After finishing all the kilometer-run categories, the fastest runners to finish in both male and female classifications were awarded, giving them recognition and cash prizes.

Besides the fun run, participants also enjoyed the “Race Village,” where different booths were present from their partner brands, and gave out loot bags with health kits.

Maxicare and Southstar Drug’s “Run for Wellness” program will have its next fun run event in Naga City in September, where they conduct their fun run every year.
