Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI) kicked off the new year with its “Basa, Bilang” project, distributing 60 episodes of ‘Ready, Set, Read!’ and scheduling training and mentoring for selected grade 1 teachers of 18 public schools in the Department of Education – Schools Division Office of Santa Rosa City, Laguna.

“To welcome the new year, we are thrilled to expand our partnership with DepEd and other organizations through different projects and campaigns to reach more students and teachers nationwide and help advance the educational system in our country,” said KCFI president and executive director Rina Lopez.

After its launch in 2019, the “Basa, Bilang” project continues to strengthen Knowledge Channel’s mission in bringing transformative learning experiences by teaching Kindergarten to Grade 3 students early language literacy in Filipino and English and improving their critical thinking using DepEd curriculum-based videos.

“The “Basa, Bilang” is only one of the many campaigns we lined up for the year that will push Filipino students to be readers in Filipino and English, proficient in math, independent learners, confident problem solvers, and critical thinkers,” she added.

Aside from the materials provided in partnership with the Rotary Club Makati Premier District, select grade 1 teachers with their principals are set to attend Knowledge Channel’s Learning Effectively through Enhanced and Evidenced-Based Pedagogies for Reading or LEEP-Reading, on February 6-8, 2023. The training will allow them to learn new and engaging teaching techniques while being mentored, monitored and assessed by experts for 3 months.

KCFI is the only non-profit organization in the country that develops and provides access to DepEd K-12 curriculum-based education videos on-air via Knowledge Channel and other ABS-CBN platforms, online through youtube.com/knowledgechannelorg and offline through the KnowledgeTV and in the portable media library which contains 1,500 curriculum-based video lessons provided to schools.
