Star Pop artist Jel Rey muses on the heart-wrenching feeling of being left behind in his new single “Nasa Alapaap Ang Paraluman.”

He wrote the track during one of his sleepless nights while Star Pop label head Roque “Rox” Santos” helped in its production.

Jel Rey also revealed that the track was inspired by Eraserhead’s “Alapaap” and “Ang Huling El Bimbo.”

The up-and-coming singer-songwriter started by sharing his song covers and songwriting process on TikTok which garnered over 440,000 likes on the platform. He was introduced to the world of songwriting when one of his college friends brought him to a live gig, which encouraged him to share his story by creating melodies and harmonies.

Recently, he kickstarted his journey as a recording artist with the release of his first single “hele pono.” Some of the OPM legends he looks up to are Ely Buendia and Rico Blanco.
