Held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on May 22, the Miss Universe Philippines 2024 saw fifty-three candidates from all over the Philippines competing to succeed Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee.
The event featured a star-studded line-up of hosts and performers, including actors Alden Richards and Gabbi Garcia, TV and radio host Tim Yap, TV personality Jeannie Mai, and Miss Universe 2022 R’Bonney Gabriel.
Among the performers were Marina Summers, known for representing the Philippines in RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs. The World, OPM pop band Lola Amour, and Thai superstar Win Metawin.
The candidates showcased their swimsuits and evening gowns on May 19 at the Manila Hotel, where judges evaluated them in a closed-door interview to determine the Top 15 semifinalists.
During the coronation night, the beauty queens competed for a spot in the pageant’s Top 10, but only five candidates advanced to the Top 5, moving one step closer to the crown.
After the Top 5 announcement, the candidates faced the pageant’s most crucial round: the question and answer portion, where they demonstrated their intelligence and wit.
Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee made a nostalgic final walk, wearing an Apo Whang-Od-inspired gown by Mark Bumgarner, which she also wore at the Miss Universe pageant in 2023.
At the end of the night, Christi Lynn McGarry was named fourth runner-up, Baguio’s Justine Tarah Marie Valencia third runner-up (set to represent the country at the 2025 Miss Supranational), Maria Athisa Manalo of Quezon Province second runner-up (to compete at the 2024 Miss Cosmo International), and Cainta’s Stacey Daniella Gabriel first runner-up.
Additionally, Cyrille Payumo of Pampanga will represent the country at the 2025 Miss Charm pageant, and Alexie Mae Brooks at Miss Eco International 2025.
Michelle Dee passed on the crown to Bulacan’s Chelsea Anne Manalo, who was named Miss Universe Philippines 2024 and will represent the Philippines at the Miss Universe pageant in Mexico.
