Filipino-American actor Nico Santos takes on a co-leading role in the new Tubi comedy series ‘The Z-Suite’, marking another milestone in his Hollywood career. Best known for his standout roles in Crazy Rich Asians, Superstore, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Santos continues to make waves in Hollywood, bringing Filipino representation to mainstream entertainment.

A modern workplace comedy

Set in a boutique New York CIty advertising agency, The Z-Suite explores the generational clash between seasoned C-suite executives and their Gen Z employees. When a company decision backfires, the younger staff unexpectedly takes over, leading to an uproarious battle of perspectives and shifting power dynamics.

Santos plays Adrian, a sharp-witted but overwhelmed agency manager caught in the crossfire, trying to maintain order while adapting to the evolving workplace culture. With its witty humor and sharp social commentary, the series offers a hilarious yet insightful look at today’s office environment.

From Comic Relief to Main Character

Santos first gained recognition as Mateo Liwanag, the sassy and ambitious sales associate in NBC’s hit sitcom “Superstore” (2015-2021), where he became a fan favorite for his impeccable comedic timing. His career skyrocketed further when portrayed Oliver T’sien, the stylish and snarky cousin in “Crazy Rich Asians” (2018), a film that helped break barriers for Asian representation in Hollywood. He also joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the Recorder Theel in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” (2023).

Usually comedic in his characters – and quite incredible at it – the 45-year-old actor shared with Decider his desire to explore more sci-fi, fantasy, and drama roles.

“It’s so cliche to be like, ‘I’m a comedic actor, but I want to do drama,’ but I do,” Santos said. “I look at Niecy Nash and Ray Romano. They’ve been able to have such a tremendous career in comedy, but been able to transition into playing, still funny people, but in a more dramatic depth. I wouldn’t mind exploring those types of characters as well.”

Now, with The Z-Suite, Santos steps into the leading role with co-lead star Lauren Graham, showcasing his comedic prowess and charm in a series that blends satire with laugh-out-loud moments.

The Z-Suite is available to watch at Tubi online with at least eight episodes for its first season, making it accessible to a wide audience eager for fresh workplace humor with a modern twist.
