The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has collaborated with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to boost support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through the improvement of supply chain processes.

In a news release on Friday, the FDA said it had a discussion with the DTI’s Supply Chain and Logistics Group (SCLG) to address challenges that affect various products being regulated by the agency.

FDA Director General Zacate said this is part of the “Bigyang-halaga, Bangon (Give Importance, Rise) MSMEs” program that provides technical assistance and other resources to help them thrive in the market.

The program aims to expand market opportunities for local entrepreneurs by streamlining processes for obtaining authorizations, such as license to operate and certificate of product registration.

Zacate said the FDA-DTI collaboration reflects a “shared commitment to consumer welfare, public health, and economic growth.”

DTI Undersecretary Mary Jean Pacheco said the SCLG is committed to ensuring the smooth movement of goods, promoting trade efficiency and maintaining economic stability.

“By working together, however, both agencies ensure that essential products, particularly those crucial to public health, reach consumers without unnecessary delays,” she said. (PNA)
