The Department of Tourism in Cordillera Administrative Region (DOT-CAR) would recycle the flowers to be used in the Panagbenga for its floral arrangement workshop.

“We thought of reusing the flowers for a workshop training activity on flower arrangement so that the participants do not have to buy or we do not have to buy another supply to upskill the flower arrangers or interested trainees,” DOT-CAR Director Jovita Ganongan said in a phone interview on Friday.

The DOT, Tourism Infrastructure Enterprise Zone Authority and Philippine Retirement Authority join the annual float parade of the flower festival.

The workshop will be on March 2, the day after the floral parade.

“Fresh from the floral float parade, the flowers featured in the DOT’s Panagbenga Floral Float will not go to waste. Instead, they will be carefully re-purposed for this hands-on session, giving participants the chance to transform parade blooms into stunning new arrangements,” the DOT-CAR advisory said.

The workshop will guide participants through design basics, color harmony and styling techniques.

“Learn from the experts, unleash your creativity and bring home your very own floral masterpiece,” DOT-CAR urged participants.

Meanwhile, the Panagbenga fluvial parade, which it funds and provides prizes for, is canceled this year as Burnham Lake is undergoing rehabilitation. (PNA)
