The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) is supporting an agrarian reform beneficiary organization in delivering high-quality products to be used for a supplementary dietary program in Magalang town, Pampanga province.

DAR Central Luzon Director James Arsenio Ponce said a marketing agreement was recently signed between the Cruzian Multipurpose Cooperative (CMPC), located in Barangay Santa Cruz, Magalang, and the National Nutrition Council–National Capital Region (NNC-NCR).

The agreement, Ponce said, would enable the CMPC to supply their agricultural commodities for the food requirements of the NNC’s Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplemental Program that would feed undernourished children as well as pregnant women.

“The program aims to improve the quality and quantity of food and nutrient intakes of its beneficiaries by providing nutritious food commodities to undernourished pregnant women for 90 days and to nutritionally at-risk children 6 to 23 months old for 180 days,” Ponce said in a press release issued on Thursday.

DAR Secretary Conrado Estrella III is fully supporting the activity as one of his primary goals is the livelihood activities of farmers by providing them with diversified sources of income.

The marketing agreement would benefit the agrarian reform beneficiaries and will also assure the high quality of the CMPC’s agricultural products that would be used for the NNC program.

“Aside from providing our farmers with farm inputs and equipment to boost their farm yields, we also help them in marketing their agricultural products,” Ponce said.

The project is being implemented under the DAR’s Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) program. (PNA)
