Personnel from Coast Guard Station Surigao del Norte planted 1,500 mangrove propagules in Surigao City on Sunday, the station reported Monday.

The activity took place in a 10-hectare mangrove plantation in Barangay Nabago, an area adopted by Coast Guard District-Northeastern Mindanao.

Station officials said the planting, partnered with Platinum Group Metals Corp., helped launch the district’s sixth anniversary celebrations.

The event also supported marine biodiversity conservation through “Project BakhawJuan,” the station’s environmental protection program.

“The activity also aimed to strengthen environmental stewardship and highlighted the importance of protecting and preserving the natural resources for future generations,” the station said in its report. (PNA)
