The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is urging government agencies and state-run institutions to participate in the month-long Tax Awareness Month.

Declared in 2024 by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. through Proclamation No. 486, the observance aims to improve public understanding of tax laws, regulations, and compliance.

The BIR said activities are lined up to promote awareness of taxpayer registration, proper filing of tax returns, and the timely payment of correct taxes.

With the theme “Mahusay na Serbisyo, Katumbas ng Buwis Mo (Efficient Service, Equivalent to Your Taxes),” the BIR said the campaign highlights the its commitment to integrity, professionalism, and nation-building through effective tax collection.

Revenue Regions, District Offices, and partner institutions are encouraged to conduct activities that strengthen voluntary compliance, particularly timely filing and payment.

“The 2026 observance is aligned with the BIR’s DARES reform agenda, which underscores digital and data transformation, audit reform and accountability, revenue collection and base protection, employee empowerment and welfare promotion, and service excellence and stakeholder engagement,” the BIR said.

Tax Awareness Month, the BIR added, also serves as a platform to make tax information more accessible, consistent, and responsive to taxpayers’ needs. (PNA)
