The city government here has allocated PHP4.3 million for the Kadayawan Tribal Village and for the performances of the 11 tribes during the entire 38th Kadayawan Festival in August.

In a press briefing on Wednesday, City Tourism Operations Office (CTTO) officer-in-charge Jenifer Romero said the PHP1.6 million is budgeted for the ongoing enhancement of the Kadayawan Tribal Village located in Magsaysay Park while the PHP2.7 million will be utilized for the performances, foods and other expenses.

“For the enhancement, PHP150,000 are given to each tribe while PHP250,000 will be given to each tribe to used for the entire festival,” she added.

The Kadayawan Tribal Village has been the main attraction of the annual celebration showcasing the rich culture of the city’s 11 ethnolinguistic tribes – Ata, Maguindanaon, Matigsalug, Bagobo Klata, Maranao, Obo Manuvu, Bagobo-Tagabawa, Tasug, Sama, Iranun, and Kagan.

“Our timeline for its completion will be at least the week before the opening on August 10,” Romero said adding the entire Magsaysay Park is getting a facelift as well.

She added that they are already 90 percent prepared for the festival and that starting July 20, tarpaulins and flaglets will be placed all over the city. (PNA)
