A fashion show using the locally produced patadyong (wraparound garment) and a photo shoot in its various destinations by the 28 candidates of Miss Philippines Earth title on Sunday helped promote the loom weaving and tourism potentials of the province.

Teresita Laude, a trainer of the Bagtason Loom Weavers Association (BLWA) in Bugasong town, said that aside from the fashion show featuring the patadyong, the candidates also tried their hands on the loom weaving machine (tiral).

“Through the photo shoot, the candidates were able to promote our loom weaving industry in Bugasong,” she said in an interview.

The candidates showed various ways to use the colorful patadyong as shawls, hats or skirts.

Laude said they expect to receive more orders because of the promotion, hence bringing them more income.

In addition to the visit at BLWA, the title aspirants also made a trip to the pottery-making and engineered bamboo project inside the University of Antique in the municipality of Sibalom.

The candidates made clay pots, a major livelihood product in Barangay Bari.

They also joined the boodle fight for lunch at Calawag Mountain Resort in Tibiao town and held a photo shoot at the cotton processing center in Patnongon and at the Malumpati Falls in Pandan. (PNA)
