Some 410 job seekers were hired on the spot during the Independence Day Job Fair in two separate venues at the Robinsons Place here and in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.

“Of the total job vacancies, 2,406 were from 65 local companies while the 18,934 vacancies were from 11 overseas recruitment agencies,” the Department of Labor and Employment in the Caraga Region (DOLE-13) said in a statement Monday.

At least 75 employers who joined the fairs offered some 21,340 vacancies to job seekers.

The agency said 1,189 applicants—1,080 for local employment and 109 for overseas jobs—participated in job hunting at both fairs.

Lala Cabidog, who was among those hired on the spot for local employment, thanked the government for the opportunity she gained.

“The DOLE Job Fairs provided me with work. I hope that his activity will continue to benefit more people who are looking for employment,” Cabidog said.

DOLE-13 Director Joffrey Suyao said the job fair was carried out through the support of the different line agencies and the local government units in the region.

“We hope that our collective efforts in facilitating productive and decent employment for the Filipino citizens will result in a vibrant labor market and a stronger economy in the region,” Suyao said. (PNA)
