Today, celebrating women is no longer a mere slogan elsewhere. The call for a gender-equal world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination has been a continuous fight for women’s rights.

While National Women’s month is among the best times to collectively reaffirm our participation in achieving a world where women are valued and celebrated, this Quezon-based art space is here to dedicate its entire year to women artists and cultural workers, reminding everyone to celebrate women in all crafts.

Project Space Pilipinas, an independent artist-run initiative and platform based in Lucban, announced on March 2 that in line with the annual celebration of Women’s month, all of its programs in 2022 will be dedicated to women artists, art professionals, and cultural workers- including exhibitions, collaborations, residencies, and public engagements.

Gracing the celebration, PSP is also hosting free to public solo exhibitions for Jessica Dorizac’s “DECORATIVE DISPOSITION” and Maria Lourdes Abulencias’s “PAGLAYA” at its Project Room, started on March 5 that will run until March 29.

Some of Jessica Dorizac’s notable shows were the “Jessica Dorizac – A Pilgrimage; Souls Retrieved, Ceremonies Constructed” held at The Drawing Room in Makati City. Another notable show that featured Dorizac was at Artinformal in Mandaluyong City.

On the other hand, Lourdes Abulencia, also known as Maria Abulencia, a writer, actress, dancer, and painter is known for her healing arts. She is a co-founder of KUTA NG SINING (Fortress of the Arts), a province-wide organization of artists and culture advocates in Quezon, Philippines.

For centuries, women have been taking action on raising awareness and promoting equality among all genders. Women have been inspiring and creating art to forge a world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. In like manner, Project Pilipinas with the initiative to feature women’s creative works showcases the relevance of continuous actions to promote and celebrate women in all fields.
