Spanning from the slums of Brazil to the homeless in India, Iran, and the United States, people from 80 countries submitted 100 personal questions to Pope Francis, whose replies have been compiled into a book that will be released on April 1.

Pope Francis has persistently campaigned for a church for the poor, one that listens to the marginalized sectors and empties itself in order to be completely receptive to God’s love. He is well-known for his persistent activism for the poor and believes that Jesus’ birth in poverty should serve as a reminder to people that supporting others is more important than earning a reputation, social status, or chasing luxury in one’s job.

The Pope disclosed in the book that it concerns him when Church leaders, priests, bishops, and cardinals drive luxurious cars which are far from setting an example for the poor.

The Pope has already published more than 50 books since his inauguration as the head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of the Vatican City State in 2013. All of his publications are devoted to the poor and underprivileged, consistently standing up for the people.

Jorge Mario Bergoglio or Pope Francis, was the first pope from America, the first from the Southern Hemisphere, and the first pope from outside Europe since Gregory III, a Syrian who ruled in the eighth century.

The Pope paid a five-day “Papal Visit” to the Philippines in 2015. He visited areas affected by supertyphoon Haiyan, which killed or left missing 7,350 people in 2013. One of the primary reasons POPE Francis visited the Philippines was to conduct a “mercy and compassion” visit to meet typhoon survivors.
