Meta will discontinue access to Messenger.com beginning April 2026 and redirect users to Facebook’s primary messaging interface, according to a notice published on the Messenger Help Center page.

The advisory states that starting April 2026, Messenger.com “will no longer be available for messaging.” It also confirms that the Messenger desktop app “is also no longer available,” directing users to use facebook.com/messages to continue messaging on the web.

Under the change, users who attempt to access Messenger.com on a computer will be automatically redirected to Facebook’s messaging page. Conversations will remain accessible through the web interface or through the Messenger mobile application.

The Help Center page clarifies that the Messenger app for iOS and Android devices will continue operating and is not affected by the shutdown of the standalone website. Users can continue sending and receiving messages via the mobile app without interruption.

For individuals who use Messenger without a Facebook account, the notice states they can continue accessing conversations through the Messenger mobile application. The page also provides instructions on restoring chat history across platforms using a personal identification number (PIN).

The update consolidates Meta’s web-based messaging services under Facebook’s main domain. Messenger.com has functioned as a standalone browser-based access point separate from Facebook’s primary site. With its retirement, desktop messaging will be centralized within Facebook’s integrated messaging platform.

The Help Center page includes related support articles addressing Messenger functionality, including troubleshooting messaging issues, supported operating systems, and app-related concerns. Meta did not provide additional details in the advisory regarding feature changes, data handling, or account requirements tied to the transition.

Users are advised through the Help Center notice to begin accessing Messenger via facebook.com/messages ahead of the April 2026 implementation date to ensure uninterrupted desktop messaging access.
