iACADEMY is thrilled to announce the upcoming SODA (School of Design and the Arts) Week 2024, set to take place from September 24 to September 28. This year’s theme, Ex Machina Deus, explores the intersection of technology and human creativity, emphasizing the irreplaceable power of the human mind in the digital era.

SODA Week 2024 Highlights

Kicking off the week on September 24 is the grand launch of the highly anticipated group exhibition Ex Machina Deus: Manmade at the Nexus Gallery. This exhibition will feature the works of renowned local and international artists, including Elena Bajo, Bohovee (Martin), Jef Carnay, Dex Fernandez, Arvin Flores, Denver Garza, Rox Lee, Carol Anne McChrystal, Mai Saporsantos, Jan Sunday, and Costantino Zicarelli. The exhibit will showcase a diverse array of artistic expressions that delve into the complex relationship between humanity and technology. The grand opening will be at 3 PM.

Earlier in the day, from 9 AM to 10:30 AM, Tony Sawyer will lead a session on Systems Engineering 101 as part of the CO TEACH MPSD program. Later, from 4 PM to 6 PM, Tusa Montes will host another CO TEACH session through a musical performance using traditional instruments.

On September 25, the Kalamidad exhibit will be launched, adding another dimension to the week’s exploration of art and technology. Additionally, Anjeline De Dios will lead a CO TEACH in a “sound bath” session from 4 PM to 6 PM.
The closing day, September 28, promises a vibrant array of activities open to the public. Highlights include:

  • MMA: TikTok Session at 9:30 AM in the Multipurpose Hall (MPH) with Vergel Gregorio.
  • CO TEACH MMA: TikTok from 1:00 PM in the MPH, featuring Panginoon ng Kababawan, led by Paolo Domingo.
  • ANIMASAYA Awarding Ceremony from 1 PM to 2 PM at the Nexus Gallery, 12th Floor.
  • FDT Fashion Show from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM in either the Auditorium or MPH.
  • MPSD Showcase from 4 PM to 6 PM in the Auditorium.
  • FLM Capstone Festival Screening from 10 AM to 12 PM in the Auditorium.
  • Short Filmmaking Round Table Discussion, moderated by film critic Jason Tan Liwag, from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM in the
    Auditorium.
