The city government has earmarked PHP42 million for its “Pasko Fiesta sa Davao 2023” activities for the holiday season, an official said Wednesday.

Jennifer Romero, head of the Davao City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO), said the budget covers all the Pasko Fiesta events starting November 28.

“The budget is solely from the local government unit,” Romero said in a press briefing here, adding that a 50-foot Christmas tree, ornamental lights, and a model train are among the main pieces of the decorations.

“This is the first Christmas that we don’t have (Covid-19) restrictions, so, we are anticipating this will be a grand Christmas for the Dabawenyos,” she said.

The schedule of activities for the monthlong celebration includes the Dan-Ag Davao and the Pag-abli sa Pasko on Nov. 28; Panayegon sa City Hall or a series of Christmas chorale concerts at Rizal Park (Nov. 29 to Dec. 25); Grand Christmas Bazaar (Nov. 30 to Dec. 3); and Pasko Fiesta for Indigenous People and other sectoral groups where welfare goods and other gifts will be distributed (Dec. 1-15).

On Dec. 31, a New Year’s Eve party or the Paghinugyaw – Sugat sa Bag-ong Tuig will take place in Roxas Avenue. (PNA)
