The 23rd Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival celebrations begin at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, with a spectacular opening weekend. Performances by headliners Lana Del Rey, Tyler The Creator, and Doja Cat were attended by A-list celebrities.
Lana Del Rey, renowned for her melancholic musical style, made a memorable appearance on the opening night as she returned to the festival after her debut in 2014. In an iconic moment, she arrived at the stage on a motorcycle, emerging from the audience.
Del Rey invited Grammy Award-winning artist Billie Eilish to join her onstage. Together, they performed duets of Eilish’s “Ocean Eyes” and “Video Games,” a track from Del Rey’s debut album “Born To Die,”. Jon Batiste and Jack Antonoff, whom Del Rey has previously collaborated with on her albums, also joined her onstage.
On the second night, Tyler the Creator challenged Lana Del Rey’s unforgettable performance from the previous day. His performance was especially memorable for its stunning graphics, which converted the stage into a desert landscape.
Joining him onstage were artists including Donald Glover, A$AP Rocky, Charlie Wilson, and Kali Uchis. Glover, known for his songs as Childish Gambino, made one of the most surprising appearances, especially since he retired his alter ego in 2020.
Gwen Stefani has reunited with her No Doubt bandmates Tony Kanal, Tom Dumont, and Adrian Young. No Doubt established that the band’s relevance remains intact as they begin their third decade together.
Fil-Am singer Olivia Rodrigo also popped up on the Coachella Stage during No Doubt’s reunion set wearing an “I [heart] NB” tank top for a surprise duet with Stefani.
Doja Cat wowed the crowd with her dancing moves and intriguing clothing. During her final performance, she added a new touch by painting the Indio desert with mud, which enhanced the spectacle even more.
The California sunset added a strong aspect to Sabrina Carpenter’s performance of her latest hit “Espresso” as she debuted on the Coachella stage.
The renowned music festival also welcomed the first performance of K-pop girl group LE SSERAFIM, who sang their new single “1-800-hot-n-fun.” Their appearance added to the growing roster of K-pop groups performing on the Coachella stage.
Other notable performers included Suki Waterhouse, Lil Uzi Vert, and Chlöe. Ice Spice, who had been in the audience during Lana Del Rey’s performance with Taylor Swift, took the stage. The list also included Sublime, Grimes, Jon Batiste, J Balvin, Lil Yachty, Victoria Monét, 88RISING FUTURES, and several other artists.
As the sun sets on this much-anticipated music event, which returned triumphantly after being delayed by the pandemic, fans grow increasingly excited about next year’s Coachella event. Details on performances and dates for the coming event have yet to be released.
