Dubbed as the “stage for top Filipino talents to celebrate the best OPM year after year”, Tugatog Filipino Music Festival aims to bring together the beauty of Filipino culture, music, and identity.
This year’s festival will be having P-Pop Groups MNL48, BGYO, BINI, and many other groups. It will also be streamed online via TicketMelon on June 18.
During the grand media conference that was live-streamed on the festival’s official Facebook page last Tuesday, February 22, Executive Strategy and Communications Officer Anj Hereula explained that this festival is a celebration of how P-Pop has “grown into its own sound and style that is distinctly Filipino”, noting that P-Pop is now at its peak as groups like SB19 and ALAMAT have opened themselves on the global stage and that how Filipino heritage is now embraced as Filipino elements are now integrated with music.
Hereula expressed that P-Pop is embracing the Filipino heritage for their contemporary audience. She also added that the P-Pop groups have also been an inspiration to their listeners.
“We are not just inspired by their craft, but also how they inspire other people, young and old, through their music and stories of training and hard work to reach their current status as P-Pop idols now,” she said.
Chief Executive Officer Su Matias shared that Tugatog aims to create shared experiences that are bonded by music and love for P-Pop. “The festival will feature special acts of artists performing songs together which have never been released before,” Matias said.
The confirmed P-Pop groups that will perform in the upcoming festival are MNL48, ALAMAT, BINI, BGYO, LITZ, P-POP GENERATION, LITZ, PRESS HIT PLAY, 1ST.ONE and VXON.
The organizers of this festival, Ant Savvy Creatives and Entertainment Incorporated, teased the fans to stay tuned as more performers will be announced that will be included in the festival lineup.
A lot of concertgoers may also be wanting to physically attend music festivals again. Matias said that despite this year’s festival being streamed online, the organizers planned to bring Tugatog to the live stage and showcase the other Filipino talents.
“We still want to put up a stage in a big venue and fill that space with the energy of both artists and the audiences. In the future, we hope to bring the Tugatog experience to fans all over the Philippines. We want to take Tugatog to different regions so we can also feature local artists in the line-up,” she added.
Hereula also shared that Tugatog does not only focus on one genre as it constantly evolves, just like how Filipino music evolves through time. She also added that this festival paves the way to honor different voices and talents that are constantly enriching and building the culture and craft of Filipino music.
Tickets for the Tugatog Music Festival are available starting March 1, 2022. Premiere tickets are PHP 1,800 while VIP tickets are PHP 2,700.
