Offering a tribute to the hard work and passion of Filipino comedians in the country, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) announced the dedication of a theme for known personalities this September.
On August 29, the FDCP unveiled on its website the theme of its third time celebrating Philippine Film Industry Month with the title “Tuloy pa rin ang Tawanan.”
“With their contributions not just to the local film industry but also to the country’s popular culture, the FDCP will bring to the forefront the significance of Philippine comedy over and beyond the entertainment value it serves to the public by honoring Filipino personalities whose names have become synonymous with what Pinoy comedy is,” the FDCP said.
In the announcement, the organization highlighted different known local comedians, namely the late Comedy King Dolphy, Vice Ganda, Michael V., Eugene Domingo, Ai-Ai Delas Alas, and the trio of Tito, Vic, and Joey.
FDCP highlighted the unique forte of each comedian, not only giving humor to the lives of Filipinos but also life lessons through their performances or acts. Just like Vice Ganda, the organization described the actress as a recognized member of the LGBTQIA+ community and has notable performances causing laughter in the Philippine household.
The said celebration for the Filipino comedians will have its awarding ceremony on September 29 in Manila, which will also be the FDCP’s time to pay tribute to the late King of Comedy Dolphy for being an inspiration in giving laughter to Filipinos, as reflected on the future generations of comedians.
