At the age of 71, Filipino veteran news anchor and radio broadcaster Mike Enriquez was confirmed to pass away on August 29.

Back in 2022, the veteran newscaster was reported to have had a kidney transplant, which resulted in him taking a leave from one of his local news broadcasting programs, 24 Oras.

Relating to his health condition, Mike disclosed in an interview with a local newspaper outlet that his condition was a tough call for him, noting his other health concerns due to old age.

“Aside from the procedure itself, I had to undergo a three-month isolation period. Transplant patients are immunocompromised. And I have other comorbidities, too. I’m a senior citizen and I have diabetes. In 2018, I underwent heart bypass surgery, Mike said in an interview.

Mike was known for his outstanding performance in delivering news on both television and radio starting in the 1960s. Even before passing away, the newscaster dedicated his life to giving information to all Filipinos, showing how passionate he was as a journalist and newscaster.
