Eleven employers who owe the Social Security System (SSS) a total of PHP1.8-million delinquent contributions were visited and given a letter of ultimatum in this city on Friday.

Jesus Gonzales Jr., SSS-City of Ilagan Branch officer-in-charge, told the Philippine News Agency that they imposed the orders in compliance with their main office’s memorandum to impose the final order on business owners with unremitted contributions.

The personal visits, distribution of notices and demand letters were done with hopes to increase employers’ compliance and intensify coverage and collection under the Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) program, Gonzales added.

The official said the employers’ negligence amounts to missed opportunities for workers who should be enjoying their social security benefits and privileges.

“This is only a part of the 108 Run Against Contribution Evaders (RACE) being undertaken today (April 28) nationwide,” he added.

The SSS offers amicable settlements through pandemic relief and restructuring programs to allow employers to regain their good standing and maintain the active membership of their employees.

Meanwhile, the employers of four business establishments that did not take action of paying their dues in their previous RACE program in Cabagan and Tumauini, Isabela in the past month will be charged through their legal department, according to Gonzales.

“We will let the legal department to file the charges to these non-compliant establishments,” he added. (PNA)
