A total of 35 universities from the Philippines have made it to the 2026 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asia University Rankings, marking the highest number of local institutions ever included in the list.

This year’s rankings feature 1,526 universities across 25 locations, with 557 new entries, making it the largest edition to date. The QS Asia University Rankings assess higher education institutions based on indicators such as citations per paper, papers per faculty, employer reputation, faculty-student ratio, staff with PhDs, international faculty ratio, and international research network, among others.

The inclusion of more Philippine universities in the list underscores the continued growth and recognition of the country’s higher education sector in the Asian region.

In 2025, only 25 Philippine universities made it to the QS Asia rankings, making this year’s inclusion a significant milestone for the country’s academic sector. The expanded presence of Philippine universities in the 2026 list reflects the strengthening quality of education, research productivity, and global engagement of local institutions.

Across Asia, the University of Hong Kong secured the top spot, followed by Peking University, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore, National University of Singapore (NUS), Fudan University, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, City University of Hong Kong, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Tsinghua University, and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

The 2026 QS Asia University Rankings highlight the rising presence and competitiveness of Philippine universities among the region’s leading institutions of higher learning.
